You know what they say: the first year - they scare you to death, second year - they work you death, third year - they bore you to death. I think this is inherently true. I didn't sleep much my second year but it wasn't even close to as mentally draining as my 1L year. But the second year of law school is objectively more time consuming than the first. First year all you have to worry about is class. Second year you're doing journal stuff, clinics, externships, etc. The rigors of blackletter classes might seem more challenging to some in the first year.
